Pre-Hendon Thoughts

Well, it has come to the end of an expectedly stressful week of moving in to my new pad in Forest Hill and whilst there have been a few unforeseen difficulties, it is starting to look like home and I am settling in nicely.

The business of this week has meant that I still haven’t given much thought to what I am about to start this Sunday. In a way, I think this is probably a good thing as when I met 6 of my other July 11th Starters last week, most of which weren’t currently working and were just focusing on preparing themselves for the police, most of them were in quite a state about what they should be doing before, had they prepared enough etc. My personal feeling is that it is better to take it as it comes and at the end of the day, anything we needed to prepare for beforehand, we would have been told about so I am happy to be entering it not knowing exactly what to expect.

I am nervous, excited, terrified and a whole load of other emotions. Mostly, I am looking forward to what I am about to experience and whatever else happens, I will make sure that I get the most from it that I can. It scares me that in just over 18 weeks, I will be making arrests and having the level of responsibility that comes with being a police officer but this is something I have obviously thought about a lot when applying.

Well, my next post will be reporting the delights of Hendon. I’ll be writing soon, so keep an eye out and most of all, keep your noses clean!
